Previous installation

I loaded a program on an XP machine with no problem,
however when I tried to load the same program on a second
XP machine, I ran into this problem. "This installation
has detected that a previous installation or un-
installation requires you to restart your computer" This
is the first installation of this program on this machine
so I assume it must be referring to some other program. I
restarted the machine, retried the installation but
received the same error message. I searched the registry
looking for any reference to "pending" but found nothing.
There must be some other location in the registry or other
location that has some data that is preventing my
installation of this program. Any help in tracking down
this problem would be greatly appreciated.

It could be that the software is checking, across the Internet, and has
determined the previous installation on the other machine. This seems to be
the new style.
