Preview doesn't work

Does anyone know what to do when preview doesn't work when you are opening a
file? It is set for preview but when I click on a file it says preview not
available.

Open the File. Hit File-->Properties. Is Save Preview Picture checked?

From the excel blank worksheet go to file then open, that open window is
where the preview isn't working. I have the properties set to preview. I
have tried detect and repair, but can't preview the file.

When you're opening files, you can only see a preview for files that
have been saved with the Preview Picture setting turned on.
If you select any other Excel file in the list, the window will say,
'Preview not available'

To save a file with a preview picture:

Open the file
Choose File > Properties
On the Summary tab, add a check mark to Save Preview Picture
Click OK.

Save and close the file
When you select that file in the File>Open dialog box, you'll see its
preview picture.

Thanks to all, yes the preview picture was checked but it is password
protected I think might be the reason it doesn't preview. Thanks for all
your help!!!!!!
