Preventing Slide Advancement on Mouse Click

Hi,

I'm making a powerpoint presentation with hierarchy boxes with hyperlinks
going to different slides on the boxes when you click them. A problem I'm
having is when a user accidentally clicks on the white space the user
advances to the next slide which disorients him/her. Is there a way to
disable slide advancement on a mouse click?

One thing I've tried is making an invisible box, "sending it to back",
spanning the whole slide and hyperlinking it back to the same slide. The
problem with this is because I'm using Smart Art Organization Tools, if the
big box is set to "back" then it won't be able to capture the mouse clicks
within the Smart Art area.

Any help appreciated.

Bryan,
Have you tried disabling checkbox advance slide 'on mouse click' in the
slide transition taskpane?
Of course that will not disable other means to go to the next slide like
enter or the cursor arrows.

Click on the Slide Show ribbon. Click Set Up Show. Then choose Browsed
at a Kiosk. Be aware that you must have hyperlinks and buttons for
EVERYTHING. Mouse clicks will no longer work at all.

Thanks, David. Luc -- I'm using powerpoint 2007, can you guide me through
how to do that? In '07 there doesn't seem to be a checkbox like you
mentioned.

Bryan,
Click on the Animation tab on the ribbon. On the far side you will find the
checkbox I mentioned. Of course like David suggested you could also set the
presentation to be viewed at a kiosk which will disable all navigation
except what you provide using hyperlinks and action buttons.
