prevent item editing

i'm creating a new appointment at the calender. but i dont want the user to
have the option of editing, moving or changing the hours of the
appointment. i would be very happy to see a code sample for this problem.
 
Once the appointment is in the user's own Calendar folder, it's theirs to do with as they wish. You might be able to add some restrictions with a custom form published to the Organizational Forms library, but a determined user could easily bypass them.

Perhaps the most straightforward solution would be a warning to the user?
