I want to clear my home hard drive and reinstall Windows XP. I have copied
all personal files and located the reinstallation disk for XP and disks for
other system items. My question is, how do I format the drive before doing
the reinstall?

In the old Dos days you just put in your system disk and worked from there.
I could find nothing on the reinstallation disk giving this option.

I am nervous about doing the reinstall without wiping the drive first
because the reason is a probably trojan in the system.

I will appreciate any comments on this.

If you have a bootable XP disk, you can choose the option of deleting the
partition, creating a new one, and then formatting it. It's a lot better than
it used to be! ;)
