Prepare drive with OS for a clean install

My system drive is located on a pci ide controller
(SIIG). Is the old registy erased when I perform a NTFS
long format? Or the only way to erase the old registry is
to do a FAT format on the old system drive followed by a
NTFS quick format?
 
Hi,

A format will erase the file structure on your disk.
Either will erase the old registry.
