Preload updates into I386 before Installing XP Pro

Hi,

I want to wipe my hard drive and re-install XP Pro. I have the installation
cd that came with my PC, but it is out of date. I don't even think it has
SP1. I believe all the installation files are in the I386 folder on the cd,
right? I was wondering if there is a way I could copy this folder to my hard
drive, download all the current XP Pro updates, pre-load them into the I386
folder, and burn this onto a new cd so that when I re-install, I will get a
fully updated version of Windows XP.

My concern is that if I load this out-of-date version of XP and I have to
get it on the internet so that I can download and apply the latest updates,
during the time it takes to do this, I will be exposed to all the internet
threats that the security updates are supposed to fix.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Paul

Hi Carey,

Thanks for the info. Just out of curiosity, do you know of a way that I can
include updates that come out after SP2?

Thanks again,
Paul
