Preferences for modifing Boot.ini file

Hi
The quote below is from a Microsoft Knowledge base
article (289022) which pertaines to modifiying the
subject. Correct me if I'm wrong but I get the feeling
that ever though they suggest that one could use
the "statup and recovery" dialog to modify the subject,
it would probably be better to use the "comand line
utility, Bootcfg.exe". If I'm correct in my assumption
could anybody explain why this so? Again I'm new.
"While you can modify the Boot.ini file using the Startup
and Recovery dialog, where you can select the default
operating system, change the timeout value, or manually
edit the file, the following method uses the command line
utility, Bootcfg.exe".
Thanks
PS If one should be so unfortunet as to need the backup
copy of Boot.ini how would one retrieve it?

Clever WinXP users have two things going for them:

1.) They have a password on their Administrator account.
2.) They never forget the password on their Administrator account.

Ultra-clever WinXP users have various two more things going for them:
1.) They have copies of important files stored in places other than their
computer's hard-drive.
a.) The boot.ini file
b.) A file with important passwords - cleverly encoded, of course.
2.) Easy access to the Windows XP installation CD-ROM.

If you are an ultra-clever WinXP user, and something goes awry with your
boot.ini file - with no other configuration errors, you could conceivable boot
from the Windows XP installation CD-ROM and log-in to the Administrator account.
You could then restore the boot.ini file to its regular, pristine condition from
a copy that you had saved elsewhere.

Of course, how often does only one thing go wrong like this? Never!

Concerning the use of any other tool than Notepad for editing the boot.ini file:
I don't see the point.

It's just as magnificent as the Taj Mahal to:
1.) Press: WinKey + R
2.) Type: notepad c:\boot.ini
3.) Press: Enter
