Predictable shutdown

When playing games, scanning for viruses computer shuts down approximately 20
minutes into play. It is a hp Pavilion 751n with Windows XP. I have
vaccuumed out the back and everything possible for potential overheat and
still doing it. It is slow the rest of the time, but still mostly functional
with Internet Explorerer, and most other programs. Having many javascript
errors with it as well. Any suggestions?

Please go to Start...Control Panel...System...Advanced Tab...Startup and
Recovery Settings Button. Once in this window, please uncheck the
"Automatically restart" and click OK to exit.

Now, the next time the system spontaneously restarts - it'll stop at a blue
screen. From that blue screen (also called the BSOD) we'll need the exact
STOP error message and any filenames that may be mentioned in the message.

Also, you might want to check your Event Viewer for any error messages
around the time of these shutdowns (Start...Control Panel...Administrative
Tools...Event Viewer)

Also, the HP has a good assortment of tools in the HP Tools directory on
your Start Menu (to include their System Recovery Tool). I've used these
tool several times on a Pavilion 750n and they have worked like a charm every
time!

You cleaned it out but i have had experiences where i had to dismantle
the heat sink and fan, make sure the heat sink is nice and clean and
follow USASMA's advice you'll surely find what is causing this
