PPT 2003 autoformatting fonts?

We are having problems with some autoformatting with
Powerpoint 2003, which did not occur in PowerPoint 2000.

In our ppt, there are some Arial 24pt bullet items at the
top of the slide. Then a separate text frame with a lot
of Courier 10 pt text in it at the bottom of the slide.

If you try to copy/cut/move some of the Courier text, and
paste it into the text frame (which only has Courier 10 pt
in it) the pasted text is formatted as 20pt Arial, which
is not what we want. We want it to remain Courier 10pt.
Everything in that text frame is formatted as Courier
10pt. Slides are formatted with blank slide layout, so no
formatting should be applied from the slide layout.

We have unchecked all the boxes
under "AutoCorrect/Autoformat as you Type/Apply as you
Type" as well as the "Automatic Layout for Inserted
Objects" under "AutoCorrect/Autoformat as you work".

Any other ideas on what to try?

Try going to Format/Fonts and setting the default font to Courier 10. Not
sure that will do the trick, but it's worth a try.
