Is there an upgrade from PP2002 to PP2003, or does one have to purchase the new version?

Yes, if you have PPT 2002, you can use a PPT 2003 upgrade.

I do have Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 (The Microsoft Office XP Presentation). Have been to MS downloads
but can't find where an upgrade from 2002 to 2003 is located. Can you guide me in that direction?

You can't download the upgrade, Evelyn; it's something you have to purchase.
