Powerpoint Viewer

Herb

I have been using MS Word Viewer extensively for some time now, but I
only recently bacame aware of the existence of Powerpoint Viewer.

It looks good, although unlike in WordViewer I can't see an option to
activate a rudimentary toolbar or a slide number indicator.

Am I missing something?

Thank you.

Herb,

Not possible.

You can put your slide numbers on your slides (insert menu > slide number)

Thanks, although I guess what I really meant to ask about was the
availabilty of a rudimentary navigation method for jumping between
slides (rather than having to keep scrolling backwards and forwards).

Also, in the absence of a rudimentary toolbar, perhaps there is a
keyboard shortcut for opening a presentation for editing from within
Powerpoint Viewer?

Navigating in the viewer is pretty much the same as in PPT itself.
If the slide show's set up in Kiosk mode by whoever created it, you'll have to
use the navigation features (buttons/links/whatever) that they provided.

Otherwise, you can use any of several keys to navigate (press F1 while viewing
a show to see a list) or if you know you want to jump to slide 42, for example,
type 42 then hit ENTER.

No. You can only view and print presentations with the free viewer.
MS wants to leave you a few good reasons to buy PowerPoint instead. ;-)

Hi Steve,

thanks for your reply.

I wasn't aware that I could call up a navigation list with F1, and guess
what? I'm embarrassed to admit that I wasn't even aware of the "Go to
slide" option available in the context menu! :-[

This is all I want/need really :)

My question was badly phrased, sorry - of course I'm not expecting to be
able to edit ppt files within the viewer :)

What I meant was that I'm look for a shortcut for opening ppt files for
editing *in Powerpoint* from within Powerpoint Viewer.

I regularly use Word Viewer to view doc/rtf files, and I can open them
for editing in Word with Alt+F followed by E.

Is a similar shortcut available for Powerpoint Viewer?

Thank you.

No problem. You got an answer, I got to feel good for giving it.
Win-Win. <g>

(I wonder what they call that on a Mac?)
