I am thinking of using powerpoint producer to help archive some powerpoint
presentations. I would like to have audio and video of the presentation
along with the powerpoints.

What other software beyond PowerPoint is needed?
Has this product worked well for you?
Is addtional software or equipment needed?
Any reccomendations on what digital camera works best?
Any other tips?

Depending on how you produce the audio/video perhaps none (including
Producer - as PowerPoint has another add in that can do the complete
job:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...34-602D-4A96-9AE9-6583E0EBDA9E&displaylang=en)

Producer has more flexibility in post production though.

Has this product worked well for you?

For me yes.

Obviously you need a mechanism to capture the audio/video of the presenter.
Generally though the audio is what is of value -- the video(especially if
it is just a video of the presenter) is harder to capture and of
considerably less value.

I would advise against trying to capture the whole event live (including
the synchronization of slide changes and animations). It takes considerably
more planning and requires a disciplined presenter. If you want to use a
live event as a capture opportunity what I have done is use a camcorder
(digital these days) connected to an audio mixer with wireless mics on the
presenter and at least one audience mic to capture audience audio. I use
the camcorder video just to capture the timing of the slide changes so the
camera can be fixed on the screen. If you want video of the presenter you
will have to have some skill at videography as well.

has information on setting up a mini studio to create the presentations.
