Powerpoint needs different and more design templates.

I think Powerpoint needs different and more slide design templates. See, I
am doing a presentation on boston terriers for my speech class. I wanted a
design with like dogs or animals on it or something that would go with boston
terriers or even like a nature looking background so it looks like a boston
terrier is outside when I put a picture of a boston terrier on the slide.

You don't need to restrict yourself to what Microsoft offers. Use google and
search for free PowerPoint templates. See
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00080.htm as a start.

Also, what you are really looking for are "backgrounds" not necessarily
templates. If you have a good image you would like to use, just use the blank
template and go to View > Master > Slide Master > Format > Background and click
on the color box at the bottom of the dialog. Then click on Picture. There you
can add your image file as the background. Experiment with that. Your image
should be about 1024 X 768 pixels in size for good resolution on the screen.
