Powerpoint freezes on save

About once every 10 times, my Powerpoint 2003 freezes on save. Nothing I do
after that works, including attempting to terminate the Powerpoint process
for the task manager. I have to reboot the computer. The really upsetting
thing is that I can just reopen the same presentation, make the same
modifications, save again and the next time around it usually works. But
having to reboot and losing all your changes is really annoying.

Make sure you have all the Service Patches installed for this version.

Are you using Norton antivirus?

Do you clean up your system on a regular basis? Are there other programs running
at the same time?

I do. It has been kept completely up to date.

Ok. I'd try disabling the Office plug-in, then.

Norton Anti-Virus and Office

I don't know that this will resolve the problem, but it's worth a try. Also,
you'll still be protected by the other parts of the antivirus that scan
these same Office documents, so it's not like you're leaving your system
with holes or anything.

Also, are you working from a network? I've lost files before when they're on
a network server with a connection that seems to want to waver in and out.
