In the page that the link produces,there are three possible fixes.
The first one using " Re-registering" Powerpoint didn't work...
The next step, right clicking and choosing program to open with,
also didn't work...
The third fix did work,
Editing the Open action for the file association directly...

Glad to hear that the third fix worked for you, Yoonome. I couldn't find the
page you mentioned with the three different fix options, but those other
options may work for other users. See, there can be a few different causes
for the problem -- which often means a few possible solutions. Luckily, you
found a complete article that walks you through all the options.
