powerpoint fails to open

my powerpoint fails to open. I get a message that a
patch is unavailable and to contact the vendor. Help

Can you give us the version of PowerPoint you are using, the type of file
you are trying to open (.PPT or .PPS), and the full text of the message?
Or is it PowerPoint (the program) that doesn't open? We still need the
version and the full message.

The program of powerpoint xp home edition fails to open.
I am given an error message after it launches installer
(dont know why) that "this patch package could not be
opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you
can access it, or contact the application vendor to
verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch
package." help me, Russ

There isn't a "Home Edition" of PowerPoint, so can you tell us what is
printed on the CD? Is it Windows XP Home Edition?

I am running windows xp home and could not find the files
listed in the fix. Russ
