Powerpoint couldn't find spelling file (german)

Christine

I'm working with a PPT file that was received from
Vienna. The presentation was originally typed in German,
then translated to English for our use.

We've tested the spellchecker on two different systems.

Initially we both get an alert box saying that "PowerPoint
couldn't find the spelling file for(German)Germany", then
it attempts to check the file but doesn't necessarily
catch all mispelled words.

Is this strictly related to the custom dictionary or could
this be language related?

Is there a way to get 'behind the scenes' in PPT to the
VBA code (like you can in Access) and tell it to stop
looking for the german dictionary? Is this even
necessary?

p.s. I've changed the default language for the
spellchecker to English.

update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

You are getting this message because some of the text in the presentation
is still tagged with the Langage ID for "German (Germany)". Depending on
how the presentation was created, it might be very difficult to change all
text to the Language ID for the speller that you want to use, but here's
sample code to accomplish it:

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that there should be
additional language setting/detection/etc. features in PowerPoint, don't
forget to send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

It's VERY important that, for EACH wish, you describe in detail, WHY it is
important TO YOU that your product suggestion be implemented. A good wish
submssion includes WHAT scenario, work-flow, or end-result is blocked by
not having a specific feature, HOW MUCH time and effort ($$$) is spent
working around a specific limitation of the current product, etc. Remember
that Microsoft receives THOUSANDS of product suggestions every day and we
read each one but, in any given product development cycle, there are ONLY
sufficient resources to address the ones that are MOST IMPORTANT to our
customers so take the extra time to state your case as CLEARLY and
COMPLETELY as possible so that we can FEEL YOUR PAIN.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
