When I try to convert a PowerPoint document to Word I get this error message
"PowerPoint can't find Microsoft Word. Make sure Microsoft Word is properly
installed on your computer". I have done a detect and repair and reinstalled
Office but neither one solved the problem. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

What version of Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint do you have?

To check the version of Microsoft Word:

Start Microsoft Word
Click Help -> About Microsoft Word
In newer versions (i.e. Word 2003), click Help -> About Microsoft Office Word

It should say something like:
Microsoft Office Word 2003 (11.6568.6568) SP2
Part of Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003

To check the version of Microsoft PowerPoint:

Start Microsoft PowerPoint
Click Help -> About Microsoft PowerPoint
In newer versions (i.e. PowerPoint 2003), click Help -> About Microsoft Office PowerPoint

It should say something like:
Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 (11.6564.6568) SP2
Part of Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003

You might try opening Word and then doing the File|Send to|Word from PPT.
Sometimes that can help with the Send to Word wonkies.

Also, which version of PPT, which version of Word, and are you using Norton
antivirus?

Thank you both for your help. To answer your questions:

Microsoft Word 2002 (10.2627.2625)
Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 (10.2623.2625)

I use McAffee not Norton. I also tried doing the send with word open and it
did not work either.

Thanks again for your help

Wow, I don't know, then.

Have you rebooted? I'd reboot, disable McAfee, and try it again.
