Powerpoint 2007 vs 2003 problems

I have created a powerpoint template for a school using multiple masters in
PP2007. I tested this in PP2003 on my system and even tested it on a
computer with only PP2003 and was able to use the template whithou any
problem. I took it to the school and tried it there in PP2003 and got an
error message that the template used multiple masters and the presentation
would be created with the title page master.

I checked to see if the new features of PP2003 had been disabled, they had
not. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Does the school version of PowerPoint have all the required service patches.
Is the school version of PowerPoint the Student Teacher Version of
PowerPoint

I will need to wait untill next week to check that. If the patches are not
installed I'm stuck. The Education Authority will not let anyone update or
upgrade any of the software.

I think there also may be some restrictions if the version is the Student
Teacher edition.

Do you know the exact error message? This isn't one I've seen, and it does
sound a bit odd. Usually you'd be prompted that the template has multiple
masters that aren't used and asks if you want to keep them. Saying that it
will be created with the title page master just sounds weird.

There is a new title slide layout in PPT 2007 that replaces the old 2003
Title Masters, so it could be that that difference prompted the error /
warning message. I'm just guessing, though.

When you created your 2007 template, did you create multiple masters, or did
you add slide layouts to one master?

I created multiple masters. As I said it worked fine in 2003 on my computer.

I understand that it worked fine on your computer.

Again, can you tell us the exact error message?

Also check Tools | Options | Edit on the problem computer to ensure that you
have not disabled the multiple masters features at the bottom of the dialog.

I will need to wait until I am in the School again, possibly Tuesday.
