PowerPoint 2007 viewer

Is there any definitive news on whether the 2007 viewer will be able to fully
run a macro enabled show (.ppsm) / macro enable presentation (.pptm)?

Presumably it will - otherwise why have the option for a macro enabled show?

Just planning ahead.

Thanks

I've tested the viewer packaged with the beta (& Pack and Go) but it prompts
me to download a converter to view the file so I assume it is still basically
the 2003 viewer. And searching various blogs etc. I get the impression that
Microsoft will be releasing a new viewer following the release of 2007.
However, when packaging for CD with the beta, a prompt appears saying macros
& embedded objects etc will not work in the PowerPoint Viewer so perhaps even
with a new viewer macros will not be active?

Maybe i'll just have to wait and see?

it currently play PPSM/PPTM files?

The PPT Viewer should be the final one already. I would assume that the
message means it won't support PPSM and PPTM.

I doubt it will support the "M" file types, since the current Viewer doesn't
support macros. The 2007 Viewer doesn't add any functionality, I do know
that much.

Now, whether it should open the PPTSM/PPTM files and just strip out the
macros, I don't know, but I doubt it.

Is the question whether it'll open and display it or not, or whether it'll run
the macros?

It won't run the macros, that much is certain.

And moving on to the speculative portion of the evening's entertainment ...
since it won't/can't run macros, there'd be no reason to disable its ability to
open/play macro-enabled shows.

I have some definite the PPT 207 Viewer will be able to open and
view pptm/ppsm presentations. However, similar to the PPT 2003 viewer,
it won't be able to execute the macros in the pptm/ppsm files.
