PowerPoint 2007: Tear-off menus?

I've recently migrated from PowerPoint 2003 to 2007.

In 2003, one of the facilities I regularly used was tear-off menus.
For example, if I was making an interactive presentation, I would have
the action buttons menu sitting on the screen so that I didn't
constantly have to keep going back to one of the other menus to make a
selection. In a similar way, I also used the drawing tools and colour
palettes.

So, can I do this in 2007, or have the tear-off menus been ripped from
the program? If so, how?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, tear-off menus have been abondoned. Much
to my regret I must say.

I totally agree: I think it's a retrograde step. I made frequent use
of tear-off menus throughout Office 2003. In many cases it is quite
cumbersome to select the equivalent tool or action in 2007
(particularly the action buttons).

I don't think it would be that difficult to implement in 2007 or its
successors: just call them floating menus and put a clickable symbol
on the existing menus to make it happen.

Yep, it's a biggie and it's a baddie (IMO). I've added all my most
frequently used buttons (such as the alignment ones) to the QAT, but beyond
that....
