PowerPoint Viewer 2003 hyperlink warning

February 05, 2004
1. When the PowerPoint 2003 viewer is running a message
yes / no response pops up with the following
message; "Opening some hyperlinks may contain viruses or
otherwise be harmful to your computer, It is important to
be certain that this hyperlink is from a trustworthy
source, do you want to open this hyperlink?"

2. I then press the yes button and another screen opens
showing the content of the CD that has the PowerPoint
presentation on it with the viewer now running in the
background on my new Compaq - HP desktop PC running XP
home edition with the latest updates. This only happens
intermittently while the PowerPoint 2003 viewer is running.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

1) In short, no, these warnings can not be bypassed. Or at least not with
the New PowerPoint viewer (based on PP 2003). The warnings do not appear in
the old viewer (based on PP97), but then
again, neither do a lot on animations and transitions. More here:

If you feel this is an issue that should be
addressed/changed/improved/whatever, please take a moment from your schedule
and explain to MS exactly why. It is important that they hear from users,
how to make PowerPoint more usable.
