PowerPoint 2003 Template Creation Wizard

G

Guest

I installed the Template Creation Wizard (ppttpwiz.exe) and have two questions:

1. When I launch PowerPoint, it prompts me to insert the "PowerPoint 2003
Template Creation Wizard" disk, which I don't think exists. When I press the
Browse button, it's looking for the file pptpwiz.msi, which again does not
exist. If I cancel out, PowerPoint is launched and everything appears to
work fine.

2. Assuming I can overcome issue #1 (above), how do I use access the
Template Creation Wizard? According to its instructions, I have to go to the
"Wizards Toolbar" to see the Template Creation Wizard. Where is this Wizards
Toolbar?

Please HELP!

There's a fee Template Creation Wizard download somewhere on the MS site. I
bet you installed that, and PPT's looking for it for some reason. If you
don't find it, holler back and I'll try to dig up a link to it.

I did instlal it off of the MS Office webstie. In fact, I can't even
uninstall it now. When I try to remove the program, I get the same message
prompting me to insert the "PowerPoint 2003 Template Creation Wizard" disk.

I don't think such a disk exists!!!

Did you install directly from the MS site or did you save the PPTTPWiz.EXE file
to your hard drive and run it from there?

Also, do you have PowerPoint 2003 and one of the supported Windows versions
listed on the download page?

I just tried it ... downloaded the file to my HDD and ran it from there as
instructed. Seems to work ok here, and there's an uninstaller listed in
Control Panel/Add and Remove Programs.

If you're sure you have the correct PPT/Windows versions, try downloading the
file and run it again. Be sure PPT isn't running when you do.
I don't think such a disk exists!!!

Okay. I wonder if the DLL is still at C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\OFFICE11\PowerPoint Template Creation Wizard and causing you
problems?

Try this. Open PPT and go to View/Toolbars and at the bottom, click
Customize. On the Toolbars tab, select the Wizards toolbar and hit the
Delete button.

Dunno if that will work, but that's what I'd do.

Nice find. That's why I originally said I'd see if I could find the wizard
for the poster -- I was going to suggest reinstalling then uninstalling via
Add-Remove programs. But I didn't see an uninstaller! I see it now under
Microsoft Office PPT 2003 Template Creation Wizard. (Duh!)

Once you get the wizard off your computer, What were you trying to do?
Creating a template is easy as long as you don't try to use the helpfiles,
online support or any power point reference book. They all leave out the
part about the master slide.

Open your power point slide.
clicl "view" "master" "slide master"
design the slide the way you want it to be.
click "file" "save as"
save the file as file type "design template"
your file will automatically save in the correct folder to work as a template.
If you do not make the slide a master, the design will appear with the other
templates, but it will come up blank when you select it.

Is it listed under Add Remove Programs as discussed elsewhere in this
thread? If so, I would uninstall it from there. You can always reinstall it
later if you want.

If not, I think you should try to reinstall it and then uninstall it
properly using Add-Remove Programs.

When you install, I would click the Download button on the MS site and then
opt to Save (to your harddrive), not Open (to install from online). Saving
and double-clicking to install ususally seems to work better for me than
letting things install from online.

Let's walk through this in babysteps so we're sure we're all doing the same
thing. Please describe exactly what steps you follow when you install it.

And since you haven't already, would you please back up a few messages, read and
answer my earlier post as well? Thanks.

We really can't help you at all unless you can answer our questions.

Hi

I am also facing the same issue discussed here. While re-installing it is
asking for the same ppt*.msi file. I read the following instructions down

I am not able to understand this instruction. Are we trying to install

Please help.
