Powerpoint 2003 on Windows 2000 system (print problem)

Hi,

In our organisation we recently have deployed Office 2003 with SP1
On most of our computers we have also deployed Windows XP SP2 at the same
time, but some of the computers are still running Windows 2000 SP4

Those running Windows 2000 are having problems when printing slides/handouts
from Powerpoint 2003.
The problem is that the background picture is printed double (squeezed on
top of each other to fit the page) while the text is printed correctly.
Those running on Windows XP systems don't have this problem.
We have tried to print on different printers with the same result, so it
seems to be a compatibility issue between Win2k and Powerpoint 2003.
Has anybody experienced the same issue and found a solution for it?

There are problems with some printer drivers that can cause images to print
double. It's not specifically a Win2K/PPT2003 compatibility problem though.

What printers have you experienced the problem with?

Do you have Adobe Acrobat? If so, try printing to it as a workaround. You
could then print from the PDF to your printers.

The printers I have tried it on is a Lexmark 1275SC and a OKI C9200.
But it is the same printer drivers those running WinXP are using, and the
same drivers those running Win2k where using when they used Office XP instead
of Office 2003.

Unfortunately none of those running Win2K has Adobe Acrobat.

Something in the combination of driver, PPT version and operating system might
reveal a driver or application problem that doesn't show up in other combinations.

You might want to check with the printer manufacturer to see if other drivers are
available. I really wish I knew of a better suggestion than that but I don't.
