Powerpoint 2003 Canopus DV Codec

D

Dan Goodkin

I have an editing machine that I use to create MPG and AVI files that I
integrate into my powerpoint presentations.

I have been doing this successfully on my Sony V505 for quite some time.

When I got the voodoo I installed the Canopus DV Codec right away. The avi
and mpeg files play just fine in Windows Media Player on the voodoopc but
they do not play natively within powerpoint 2003 at all on the voodoopc. I
can insert them as video objects but that is not what I want since video
objects have the player tool bar underneath and will not play automatically.
I was able to use the exact same files natively with no problem on my Sony.

Is there a certain set up I need to go through to get powerpoint 2003 to
recognize the codecs? Is there a special configuration you folks used on the
voodoo that is preventing the codec from being properly utilized?

I've searched the net far and wide. I've read the famous Austin Myers
treatise on codecs and powerpoint.
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00099.htm .

The VoodooPC in question is build 34208. It is running xp-pro on a radeon
9700. I have updated office 2003 to be current.

I'm at a loss. Please help!

Thanks,

Dan Goodkin
