powerpoint 2000 can't recognize previous versions

I have a presentation created in a previous version that I can't seem to
bring up on powerpoint 2000.

The version was either 95 or 97 I'm not sure. The error message that I

receive when trying to open it in 2000 is: "Powrepoint can't open the type

of file represented by C:\..."

Does anyone have a suggestion?

PPT 2000 should open both 97 and 95 presentations, so it sounds as if the file may be corrupt.
