I had bought a computer last year that came with PowerDVD 4.0XP installed. I
suffered a hard drive physical death and so had to buy a new drive. I
installed XP Home edition on it, and when I went to install PowerDVD again,
it keeps coming up with "This software may only be installed with Sony
DVD-ROM. Setup will abort." The Device Manager tells me that the drive is a
"JLMS XJ-HD166S". I know this software will work on this computer with this
DVD drive; it was there the first time around when I bought it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks...

Have you checked the Power DVD web site?

If the laptop is a Sony model, you should go to the Sony support site and
download the 'Sony® Shared Library & Sony Utilities DLL Library' for your
particular model and operating system.
