Power supply shut itself down

I have this computer that had a defective Power Supply (PS). So I
replaced it with a PS of a different brand name but with the same
output (400W). When I boot up the PC the PS seen to start working
but after a few second the PS shut itself down. I supposed that the
new PS was bad and replaced again with another with a 400W output,
but the PC the same thing happened again.

Any clue of what can be wrong? :?: I'll appreciate any suggestion.

My first question has to be how you knew the problem was a bad P.S. How do
you know it might not be a faulty CPU fan that trips the computer to turn
off when it senses no cpu fan running? Or for that matter a short to the
case.

Sinse the first PS didn't turn on I though that it was defective.
Once I replace it, the new PS turn on and the CPU fan turn on also
but after a few second the PS turn itself off.

May be there is a short to the case as you said. I'll check it out
and let you know.

Thank a lot.

It is a power supply 'system'. PSU is only one part of that
system. Without facts, one can only speculate. That is what
you have done. Best to learn from that mistake, and learn how
to first get facts. For power supply problems, with the
ubiquitous meter, necessary facts can be obtained in two
minutes. (Reading how to obtain those facts takes
significantly longer if basic tools are new concepts):
