We're doing everything we can around the house to save on
energy and one thing I read suggested setting your desktop
PC to shut down (sleep)after a set period of inactivity.
Makes sense since I think my power supply operates at about
400 watts.
I have it set to shut down after twenty minutes. This works
fine and it it starts back up pretty quickly when i want it
to. However it interfers with other automated features that
I had setup to do early in the morning - Virus check, disc
cleanup, defrag etc.
Does anybody know of a way to set it up to shut down
overnight then wake up on it's own early in the morning so
it can be cleaned up and ready to go before my first cup of
coffee?
Thanks,
Ken

Go to Scheduled tasks in the Control Panel. Right click on your scheduled
task and select "Properties". In the "Settings" option. Check "wake the
computer to run this task".

Shut down when not using. Power up before your coffee to get some
exercise taking a walk to your computer room.
