Power, reset and HDD LED's - Pls help

Hi all,

I am a newbie of computer hardware and have bought ASUS P4S800-MX
motherboard.
The case is a 2 years old computer case and I haven't put any memory on
the board yet.

After I finished connecting the Reset, Power and HDD LED's, I can not
swith on my computer and there are no LED on at all. The monitor is
blank. The light on the motherboard is on when I connected the power
supply and the only way I can stop my computer is to discoonect the
power supply.

I can not show the picture, but this is what it looks like.

OOOO (The first two OO are POWER LED) (The last two OO are ATX Power
Swith)
OOOOO (The first two OO are IDE_LED) (The last two OO are Reset Swith)

I have 4 things from the front panle of my old case.

A PLED1 (3 pins)
A Power swith (2 pins)
A HDD LED (2 pins)
A Re-set LED (2 pins)

Can anyone please tell me how to solve this problem and whether there
is a positive or ground of the 2 pins, does the direction matters?

If I connect them wrong, will that demage the motherboard?

Thanks a lot.

The first question I would ask, is about the power supply you
are using. Does it have a 2x2 ATX12V power lead ?

Your power supply should have a plug that looks like this:
http://www.atmarkit.co.jp/fpc/pcmainterepair/pcmr007/pwr_cable_atx12v_s.jpg

It plugs into a connector that looks like this:
http://www.atmarkit.co.jp/fpc/pcmainterepair/pcmr007/pwr_conn_atx12v_s.jpg

That connector supplies power for the processor Vcore circuit.

THat is in addition to connecting the main 20 pin ATX connector:

If you do not have the correct power supply, then get one of
those first. If your computer case is a recycled Dell, then
the power supply might be a non-standard one.

For the PANEL header, you should be able to operate the
computer with just the "power switch" connected to its
two pins. At least for testing purposes. If the motherboard
will start via that switch, then you can take the time to
connect the rest of the stuff. Use the colors next to the
PANEL header as a guide to which two pins to use for the power
switch.

The switches are supposed to be floating, so it doesn't matter
how the two leads of the switch are connected to the header.
On the header, one might be labelled PWR and the other
GND, but to the switch they are just pins. The PWR pin is
a logic input signal, and the switch causes the signal to
go to ground. The motherboard conditions the momentary contact
of the power switch, turning it into a constantly on signal
called PS_ON# on the 20 pin ATX power connector.

HTH,
Paul

This might be a dumb question but do you have your video card seated
properly? I just had an incident this weekend where I couldn't get my PC to
respond after rewiring some stuff and I think taking it out and putting it
back in fixed it. (Can't say 100% because I was trying a few different
things at the time and it was 2:30 in the ^^$&^( morning)

Thank you.

It works now.

Nothing will be display if there are no momeries.
I do not know which is ATX12V. However, I do have the 2 plugs with
pictures you mentioned above.
