Power button light stays on.

I've been playing a video game for several day's. A few times before my
computer messed up, I would click start and select the off button and it
would not work, some times the ISP going off would interfer with that fuction
till the isp went completely off, so I thought nothing that unusual. This one
night It took like three tries. I clicked off like normal and later that
morning I noticed my computer power button light was on. I was sure I clicked
it off. I was thinking I must have hit the sleep button by mistake. So I
moved the mouse to turn it on. It didn't work? So I hit the power button
nothing comes on my screen. So after dealing that for hours the screen
finally came on. I can see my screen names I can select with my mouse but all
my keyboard lights was all on Cap Lock, Num Lock and Scroll Lock. One time
they was orange. I have never seen them being orange before, I thought this
was some type of warning singal? They have always been green. But the scroll
lock was lit up and I never use that. The keyboard would not work, but the
computer was on. So happened? I'm thinking power supply? I also read a little
note from some one that it happens in XP windows, it doesn't shut down
correctly. Now it doesn't come on at all. Could it be my mother board, maybe
burned out? Totally clueless and having a hard time finding this problem with
online searches. It was a emachine, xp windows.

Perhaps, more likely the CPU or Power supply box ( $120 or $20) if you were
playing A LOT of games.

Larry,

Sounds like a classic Power supply issue. The good news is it's not
expensive. Highly doubt it's the motherboard.

Maybe it could be your mother;)

yeah, I have two burnt out capacitors on my motherboard and my system still
works (slower but still works). Its always the Power supply, or the CPU got
too hot.
