Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had a Access/Excel solution for working out
postage. What I am after is an easy solution for working out the postage per
day. Currently this is done on paper, but I am sure that it would be aeasy to
do in Access.

We currenlty weigh every item as it gets packed, then write what type of
package it is (here in the UK we have 3 sizes - letter, large letter & packet
- which are based on weight and size) We also have Sprcial Delivery and then
a tick box if it needs to go recorded. For example:

Item | Weight | Type | Recorded?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 | 450 | Large Letter | Yes
2 | 225 | Large Letter | No
3 | 127 | Packet | No
etc

Then at the bottom we tally each of these up and then divide by the number
of items, therefore getting the average weight of each type of parcel.

Has anyone got something similar to this that we could modify or similar?

Many thanks in advance,

Jamie

If you have mailings to the same addresses from time to time, Access would
be a better solution. If every address is different, Excel would be OK, but
it would be more difficult to find previous mailings. In either case, the
database you want would be specific to the UK, and you'd find it fairly easy
and quick to develop yourself. If you have specific questions, please post
back and we'll give you all the assistance we can.

Hi Arvin,

Thanks for your response. I am not at all interested in the addresses.
Basically we have to fill in a form for Royal Mail every day on number of
items and average weight. I was just hopeing that someone may already have
something similar that I could adapt. I am very new to access so not sure how
far I would get on my own lol.

Thanks again,

J
