Post Vista Installation Clean-up

Home Premium installation completed cleanly, but I have folders that seem
like they could be deleted, like something called ~QWindows and a Program
Data folder. What folders or data can be deleted after a successful upgrade
for Windows XP Pro to Vista Home Premium?

like they could be deleted, like something called ~QWindows and a Program
Data folder. What folders or data can be deleted after a successful upgrade
for Windows XP Pro to Vista Home Premium?

The "~QWindows" folder sounds like it might be a remnant from an
improperly completed or abruptly terminated installation; it's not a
normal part of the Vista installation. (There is, however, a 3rd party
application called QWindows; are you sure you haven't installed it?) To
be safe, first try hiding and denying all users - except the built-in
Administrator account, of course - permissions to access the folder. If
no adverse affects are noted after sever weeks, it's most likely safe to
delete the folder.

The "Program Data" folder is an essential part of the Vista OS, and
must remain if you want a functioning computer.

Hi, thank you for that post it was very helpful, i wasnt Sure about weather
or not to delete the 'ProgramData' folder.

But, i have one Hard Drive split into two, a 230GB Partition for all my
documents, games, music, pictures, etc... and a 20GB Partition for my OS.
This is so that if i ever need to reinstall my Vista becuase of Driver issues
or etc... then i dont lose any personal items. The problem i am having is
that ProgramData is taking up far too much space on that Hard Drive, i have
managed to change the location of all my 'User' Folders but i would like to
know if its possible to change the location of this one aswell.
