I worked on my sister-in-laws computer (LOL) trying to help her out. She got
an a message that said something about a POST MORTEM DEBUGGER. Also, on
loading her programs she got a message that said ccAAp.exe was missing or
something like that. Where do I start?

ccApp (Common Client) Application is a component of Norton products.
Sort of it's central control for all the different aspects of
Symantec/Norton
on your system. Probably start with a few runs of Live Update. Might be
a good idea to update Live Update itself first & do it manually.
Here's their (Symantec) latest Download page:

DrWatson Postmortem Debugger is drwtsn32.exe

The two problems could be related. ccApp.exe is related to Norton
products. Start with running Live update and if that doesn't work
uninstall/reinstall the Norton apps.

One option though is to rid the system of Norton apps and go to other
less problematic ones. AVG or Avast have good free antivirus software;
for firewall there is Zone Alarm and Kerio with free ones.
