This problem occurred yesterday night. After I Yahoo DLS
is connected I get an error stating Remote Procedure Call
interrupted followed by a 60 second countdown/System
shutdown alert. Please what can I do? Of course this
happened as I was about to download the new security
updates and upgrades for XP and my DSL. I tried changing
the setting of the Remote Procedure Call in Services but I
wasn't allowed to, even though I'm the administrator for
the computer. HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!

This sounds like Blaster. Follow the instructions at
<URL:http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.
worm.removal.tool.html> for details on removing this.

thats the ms blaster worm. get a firewall up and block
msblast from accessing internet.

Eric,

I had this exact problem about two weeks ago. I'll bet
$1 that you're getting hit by the Blaster worm that was
all over the news. Check out this page from Symantec on
how to fix:

The 60 second thing means you've gotta act really fast.
In fact in took me about 10 reboots to get the fixes
downloaded and executed. Try also enabling the built-in
Windows XP firewall, which may in some cases shield you
from the 60 second thing.

good luck !!
Nik
