Possible solution to Win XP crashes (OK in Safe mode)? Removing all programs 1 by 1?

Hi my system has been crashing for the past couple months. (Don't ask
me why I haven't re-installed windows) but it works fine in Safe mode.
Would it make sense or be a likely solution to remove every program I
have in it one by one until the system works again? [This sounds too
simple to a workable solution but I had to ask.] I have Win XP and
have used the 'event' log in the past but didn't find any STOP messages
that were leading me to the source of the problem.

Thanks,
Chet

First I would go to msconfig and stop all programs which are running
at start up. Get startup inspector at windowsstartup.com
This includes the antivirus program, but only when y'all are not
on-line. If this is a problem, stop y'alls present antivirus program
and get a different one, such as AVG or Avast, both free for home
users.
