Running XP Home, Tried to install Norton Internet Security 2005. Install
says it went fine, Norton Firewall is active, Norton Anti-Spyware is active
but can not configure NIS or run NAV or LiveUpdate. Says ActiveX control
settings will not allow page to display correctly and the page may not
operate correctly. ActiveX control settings in MSIE are all either set to
prompt or enable. Tried Geek Squad, tried Norton/Symantec. Neither was
useful in resolving this problem. Please help!!!

ActiveX controls are set to prompt or enable in "which" zone - Internet or
Local Internet? Since the software is on your "local" PC, make sure the
"Local Internet" ActiveX controls are set to prompt or enable as you deem
fit!

You called Symantec technical support and they were unable to assist you
with their own product? Uninstall it and return it to where you purchased
it and get your money back. Then download and install the following
applications:

www.zonelabs.com for Zone Alarm Free Edition. Top rated firewall, totally
free of charge with free updates.

www.grisoft.com for AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. Top rated anti-virus
application, totally free of charge with free updates.

www.lavasoft.de/ for Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition. Top rated adware and
spyware scanner, totally free of charge with free updates.

www.spybot.info/en/index.html for Spybot Search and Destroy. Top rated
spyware scanner, totally free of charge with free updates.

There is no need to pay for security software.

Did you check the sites you mention to resolve the issue on a different
machine? If so, when on the problem machine and you get the activeX
notification/warning does a yellow bar show under the toolbars? If so, click it
and select to Allow ActiveX.
