Last year I did an upgrade to XP Prof SP2 from ME. Everything appears to be
working fine but a system restore folder c:_restore is sitting there taking
up 2GB of space but appears to be orphaned. I've extensively checked and can
find nothing about it on the Microsoft site (why not) or through a range of
search engines. I do have a System Volume Informatiion folder which I
believe is doing the job that C:_restore used to do in ME. I'm mystified why
this information is not readily available or why in the upgrade XP didn't
wipe the folder. Can C:_restore be safely deleted and will this be straight
forward seeing it was once a read only hidden system folder.
I have a similar query about the C:\window\system folder. Has system32
replaced this folder completely or does system still contain important files.
Can this system folder therefore be deleted.
