portable floppy disk drive for use with a laptop

can anyone enlighten me?
If I connect the floppy disk drive via USB, will my laptop detect it as a
disk drive and assign Drive A to it?
If not, how can I change the path Drive X to Drive A?

Mine does. USB floppy on a notebook detected as drive A:\.
