Port 80 in hyperlink

Hi - Word 2003 does not allow me to specify port 80 in a link eg
http://server:80/xxx/whatever.xls - the string is always saved without the
port.
I know that port 80 is the default port for http - but why does Word strip
it - any one know?

Apparently, it strips it out precisely *because* it's the default. Other
values are not removed.
