POP3

Why does Windows say that it cannot find 'POP3' and then tell me in the Help
menu to type in POP3. I just purchased a new laptop with 'Vista' and am
slowly beginning to hate it. I never had a problem with XP and have had
nothing but problems with Vista. I have POP3 and SMTP and cannot get Windows
Mail opened at all.

You set up a mail account in Windows Mail exactly like you
did in Outlook Express under Windows XP.

"POP3" is not a valid mail server name. You get the correct
mail server names from your mail service provider, whoever
that is. If that is wctc.net? I can't find any online information
about how to set up a wctc.net email account, not a good sign
of their expertise or customer friendliness. Give them a call.

Hotmail, and Gmail are primarily webmail accounts.
Windows Mail cannot access any webmail account. It can only access POP3 and
IMAP accounts.
The newer Windows Live Mail can access POP3, IMAP and Hotmail/Live accounts.

MS recently added POP3 access to Hotmail/Live accounts from most countries.

Gmail offers POP3 and IMAP access.
