Pop up web pages

from time to time when I log on to Internet Explorer pop
ups appear without my control and begin launching to
websites I don't want them to. I cannot find the files or
software that is causing this to happen.

How do I purge my computer of these pages. (this happens
when I first log on or surf normal business pages - my
home page is yahoo)

The first thing is to get a good pop up blocker, if you
don't already have one. If you are using IE6, then all
you have to do is right click anywhere in IE and check
the following, block popups, block ads(if you don't want
to see them), and block web bugs. That should take care
of future popups. Warning if you do this and you go to a
site that sends a popup so you can enter a password you
will have to go back and uncheck it and reload the page
you are viewing.

Regarding purging the files, the only thing you can do is
1. Open IE, click on Tools, then internet options.
2. Under the heading "Temporary Internet Files", click
the delete files button, next check the delete all
offline content, and then click ok. This will remove the
history information on your PC.
3. Under the same heading, click the delete cookies
button, and this will delete all the cookies on your PC.
