poor score in 3dmark2001 with ati 9000 pro????

I think 5400 3dmarks is not a great score for this card in a pc with an asus
a7n8x deluxe motherboard with an athlon xp 2800+
I know of a friend that gets over 8000 with an 2400+ and with the same other
specs.
I tried both own and catalyst drivers and got the same score.
Does anyone know any possible reasons?

That's strange. I get about 7800 with my Athlon 1200 and ATI 9500Pro.

The 9000 are crap cards. I have the non pro Sapphire version and get 5100 on
a XP1800 @ 2000Mhz (10 X 200) sitting on an Abit NF7-S v2.

I've asked in here before why I don't get similar results to
http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic/20030120/vgacharts-05.html but nobody
seems to know... or care... :-(
