Poor media performance!

Whilst my laptop performs fine when used as a computer I’m experiencing
‘stuttering’ when playing ALL forms of media from ANY source.

This SEEMS to date from when I had the original cd-rw replaced with a dvd-rw
but I don’t really see what effect that could have had.

My setup is as follows:

Acer TravelMate 4152Lci

Pentium M740 processor (2MB L2 CACHE, 1.73GHz, 533MHz FSB)
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900
60GB HDD
DVD-RW
512MB DDR2 (support dual channel)

Windows XP Pro

I’m at the stage where I just think archiving off all my data and resetting
up the machine is my best hope – but before that what else do you suggest I
try?

Thanks in advance for your help.

POOR MEDIA PERFORMANCE

I had a similar problem with a Fujitsu Siemens laptop, when I tried playin
mpegs or run CPU intensive programmes it would just shut down and resart.
All the error logs pointed towards dsiplay drivers being out of date or
corrupt even when new drivers were installed.

Maybe its a similar fault.

I took the drastic step of buying a new laptop specifically set up to handle
media.

Sorry I can't offer any advice on how to fix yours.

Simon.

I've just been copying some files from my external hdd to my internal hdd and
I've noticed that they too seem to come in bursts (from the sound of the
drive) that are about the same frequency as between the stutters in media!
