Poll: Business Objects

Just out of curiosity and prompted by a previous post how do people
usually do their business objects?

1. Strong typed dataset

2. Custom class.

Take a look at some of the Guidance Automation Toolkit (GAT) packages, such
as the Web Services Software Factory. You will never see a strongly typed
Dataset, not ever. These are "best practices" code.

I think the choice of Business Entities/Objects vs Datasets is really a matter
of choice. Though I personally like Business Entities/Objects for the following
reasons

1. I am totally in control of my business objects & definitely is a more
cleaner OO approach.
2. The solution with business objects is definitely easier to port to other
platforms, with datasets you are tied to MS platform
3. Datasets get heavier & definitely business objects is the choice for performance

On the other hand dataset helps you in building an application easily & binding
data to grids etc.
