Policies don't affect XP Pro

I posted this in the XP networking group as well, but I
think that this may also be an appropriate forum for this
question:

I have a Windows 2000 domain with a mixture of 2k pro and
Xp pro stations authenticating from it. I have implemented
a standard Group policy (as a test, restricting start menu
choices).

My group policy is successful when the restricted user
logs on to the domain using a windows 2000 computer.
However, when he logs on to the domain on an XP pro
computer, the group policy has no effect and he has access
to things that the policy should be restricting.

I've used gpresult to try to troubleshoot this. On Windows
2000 computers, gpresult comes back with the necessary
RSoP data. On XP computers, no matter which user I log
onto the domain with, i get the message: "The user (domain
and username are here) does not have RSOP data."

I haven't had much success finding solutions to this
problem using search engines. If anyone could point me in
the right direction for resolution, I'd appreciate it.

Dumb question, but have you updated the .adm files on the server (see my
post above yours re XP)?

Also, try downloading this brilliant tool: GPMC (ok for XP Pro clients and
Win Server 2003/2000) - www.microsoft.com/downloads
