I can't find any option to turn off the pop-up text box that appears every
where I place my mouse. I hate it. It is annoying. It gets in my way. Thanks
in advance for help.

There are a number of types of balloon popup. It depends on where they
happen, for where you turn off this option.

Hi Mark. For example, when my mouse is on the "post" button, the balloon pops
up to tell me my pointer is on the "post" button. I can see that, I put it
there. It is telling me to enter my message in the text box. When my pointer
is over the "inbox-outlook express" button on the task-bar, a pop-up box
appears telling me that my pointer is over the "inbox-outlook express"
button. Most irritating is on Kaaza when a giant box pops up telling me all
about the song my pointer is over, obliterating all other text in that area.
This is the little text box that appears when I put my mouse over the "x" to
close a page. I hope you can help. Thanks.... Rob

If you go to : http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm you will see a
link to "Disable All" on Line 11. This will download a reg file to run, to
do most of what you want. There are setting for individual apps that also
disable this kind of thing, usual found on the Options menu somewhere. For
Example in Outlook Express, Tools menu, Options Read tab, see checkbox for
'Tooltips"

I have also seen them called 'notification ballons' and "Smart Tags" (in
Office)
