For sometime now I can no longer import PNG transparencies from
Photoshop without the image showing up with a black background in
PowerPoint XP.

Oddly, if I use the option "Save for Web" in PNG-24 in Photoshop, the
image looks fine in PowerPoint XP.

Anyone else seeing this?

Thanks!

In addition to the info on that page you can remove a colour profile from a
specific image through Image>Mode>Assign profile>Don't colour manage this
document (or Edit>Assign profile in Photoshop CS/2).

Thanks, Adam!

Steve, have you already snagged that little gem for the FAQ, or would you
like me to remind you? <g>

Ooh, while you're in an updating mood I can fill in a few more blanks if
anyone cares.
a) it only affects PowerPoint XP onward (I can't test 2003 but assume it is
the same) and Photoshop 6 onward (I think).
This, of course, doesn't mean it's not a problem if you are using PowerPoint
2000. Several times have I inserted PNGs happily in PowerPoint 2000 only to
find their pesky backgrounds turned to black when the file is opened in XP.
b) bearing this in mind you may need to extract a blackened PNG from a
PowerPoint file in XP or 2003, which you can do by right clicking and Save
picture (being sure to use the down arrow on the save button to select 'Save
original'). Then you can open the PNG in Photoshop and remove it's profile.

Sweet! Thanks, Adam!

When you're in an expounding mood, my ears always perk up.

Turning off the color management profile in Photoshop CS2 did the
trick. My transparent PNGs are working again in PowerPoint XP.

Thank you!
