Plug-in play list

Is there any way, using Front Page 2000, Version 4.0.2.2717, to
set up a web page with a MIDI player plug-in and arrange it such
that it provides a play list to the person viewing the web page?

I can only get this set up to play one MIDI file, unless I insert
multiple plug-ins. That is, I can not get one plug-in to let the
viewer select which MIDI file they want to listen to.

Thanks for any information or suggestions.

FP doesn't have this functionality built in. This is something that you
would most likely have to script by hand anyways. You might check
javascript.internet.com or www.dynamicdrive.com to see if they have any
javascripts pre-made to do this. Otherwise you may have to search for some
script that will let you control a midi playlist and control.

Thanks, Mark. I guess I'll set this aside for the time being and
concentrate on upgrading from Publisher 200 to what ever I need.
I really have no idea what I shoule upgrade to, but would
appreciate any suggestions. I manage a few very simple web sites
and don't really need anything as complex as Dreamweaver.

Anything will be better than Publisher for producing web pages,
including Notepad.

Download the Expression Web 60 day trial from

IMPORTANT: Do not forget the product key obtainable from a link on that
page.


Expression Web is aimed at standards compliant web pages, which should
render the same in almost every modern browser and operating system. It
is based on, but is not the same as, FrontPage, but for simple sites it
is just as easy to use.

You should learn some HTML and CSS whichever editing program you go for
- http://www.w3schools.com is a good place to start.

My goof! When I typed Publisher I was thinking of the text
preparation for some other work along this line. I meant to say
Front Page, instead of Publisher.

I do intend to look into Expression Web. Will it take over my
existing web sites that were set up using Front Page 2000, with
no hassle?

As long as the webs do not use VML graphics (WordArt, Textboxes,
shapeart from the drawing toolbar - not sure if this is available in
FP2000) there will be few or no problems - Expression Web has no support
for VML.

It will be best to backup the web before using Expression Web, but EW
will take over most FrontPage websites with no hassle.
Note that Expression Web supports *existing* FrontPage navigation
components, but has no provision for editing or adding to FrontPage link
bars. Navigation View is gone, so you will have to provide an
alternative for these, if you use them.
